260 new jobs for Dublin in new fibre broadband firm SIRO

260 jobs are to be created from the new fibre broadband venture set up by the ESB and Vodafone. The new venture, called Siro, will deliver fibre broadband over ESB electricity lines to 500,000 homes and businesses in 50 regional towns. The new broadband, which will see the ESB and Vodafone jointly invest €450m, will offer households speeds of up to 1,000Mbs. A European team of astronomers, including members from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) have won €2.5m of European Commission funding to create a solar storm forecasting service to lessen storms’ impact on Earth.
