Ireland to become fastest-growing EU economy
Ireland is set to remain the fastest-growing economy in the European Union, the European Commission said this morning, with growth of 3.5 per cent predicted for 2015. The European Commission slightly revised downwards its projections for Irish GDP growth, predicting a 3.5 per cent growth in 2015 compared to the figure of 3.6 per cent estimated two months ago. Things may be looking up for job-seekers according to a report in the Irish Times on 30/04/2014. Ireland’s unemployment rate fell to 11.7 per cent this month, its lowest level in nearly five years, as economic conditions continue to improve. Figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed the number of claimants on the Live Register dropped by 3,400 in April. This was the 22nd consecutive monthly drop.
